Ok, I just couldn't bring myself to do it, back to a good old fashioned knopbby panel. This is designed to be used with a 3 octave midi keyboard I have sitting around.
One for the geeks, showing the circuitry, and yes, I hand soldered this, it's really not that hard to do surface mount.

Synth geek hell. A reduced knob count panel, based on the same principles as the Oberheim Xpander. Oh, and it's green instead of blue.
Without the lights on, you can see how the buttons 'light up'.
A shot of it in 'daylight', wood working isn't my speciality.
